The BioAngels Process

If you are interested in submitting a business plan, make sure your organization meets the following criteria:

  1. Your company is a life sciences business, i.e., biotech, medical device or a software company focused on life science
  2. Your product/service has a unique advantage (patent, proprietary technology etc.)
  3. You are seeking assistance of sophisticated, experienced angels

Step 1: Pre-screening

If you fit the criteria outlined above, you can submit your plan for free by emailing it to sborland@bioangels.com

 

Step 2: Present at the Bi-Monthly Dinner Meeting

If the BioAngels Screening Committee selects your company, your company will be offered the opportunity to present at a BioAngels bi-monthly dinner. Then you will pay the $295 fee to accept the offer. These dinners take place in the evening. The dinners are designed for the angels and entrepreneurs to meet, network, and present your opportunity.

Why Does BioAngels charge $250 to present to the group?

It takes money to administrate support the group and to run it effectively. If the company is chosen to present, then the subcommittee is assigned to assist in preparing the company for the bi-monthly meeting.

What happens once I submit my plan to the web site? How many companies submit plans every month and how many get to present before the bi-monthly meeting?

Plans are reviewed bi-monthly by the screening committee. If the company is chosen to present, then one or two angels are assigned to assist in preparing the company for the bi-monthly meeting.

For those who wish to submit an Investment Opportunity, the process is as follows:

Submissions must be made online in the BioAngels format.

If your submission meets BioAngels standards, BioAngels will present it to our Screening Committee. In the event that the BioAngels Screening Committee selects your company, your company will be offered the opportunity to present at a BioAngels bi-monthly dinner and you will be contacted to pay the presenting fee of $295.00.

 

Submission Guidelines:

The summary must be one file in Microsoft Word format. The summary must be 12-point font minimum and include any and all relevant tables, graphs, photos, and other financial projections.

Company Profile - maximum 100 words: history, when & where incorporated, founders, purpose.

Industry - Life Sciences--Biotech, Medical device, and Healthcare

Product/Service - maximum 120 words: what the product, services is, what it does for whom, who will buy, describe stage of development, time to market, validation, ownership and protection of intellectual property.  

Business Opportunity - maximum 150 words: business model, target markets, size, growth rate, timing, competitive advantage, barriers to entry, commercialization strategy.  

People - maximum 100 words: entrepreneurial team, advisors, significant stakeholders.

Competitive Advantage - maximum 100 words: distinctive advantage over competition, proprietary technology or business method, patents, barriers to entry.

Investment - maximum 150 words: investment to date, sources, use of funds, burn rate, investment sought, uses, how long it will last, valuation, R.O.I, exit strategy, additional investment required to reach cash flow break even.
